My journey toward becoming a teacher

My journey
Before beginning my journey in education, I worked in public service in Korea. Moving to Canada and working as an Education Assistant gave me a new perspective on education. I began to see how much students’ relationships, experiences, and individual needs can influence their learning.
Why Teaching?
My experience as an Education Assistant helped me understand that teaching is more than delivering knowledge. I became interested in how teachers can build meaningful relationships with students and create an environment where students feel supported and understood. I want to help students develop confidence, curiosity, and independence rather than simply giving them the answers.
The Teacher I Am Becoming
I want to become a teacher who builds meaningful relationships with students from diverse backgrounds and with different experiences.
I believe that teaching is not only about sharing knowledge. It is also about learning from each other. By listening to my students, understanding who they are, and learning about their experiences, I hope to create a classroom where every student feels seen, respected, and valued.
I want to grow together with my students. Their questions, ideas, strengths, and challenges will also help me learn and become a better teacher. I hope to be a teacher who does not always have all the answers, but is willing to listen, learn, adapt, and grow with my students.
